Ingredients
  

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese e.g., mozzarella or cheddar
  • Optional additions e.g., seasonings like garlic powder, herbs, or sweeteners for a dessert version

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the waffle maker and lightly grease it with non-stick spray or butter if needed.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg until well-beaten.
  • Add the shredded cheese to the egg and mix thoroughly.
  • Pour the mixture into the waffle maker, spreading evenly.
  • Close the waffle maker and cook for 3–5 minutes, or until the chaffle is golden brown and crispy to your liking.
  • Carefully remove the chaffle and allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a sweeter variation, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract and your choice of sweetener to the mixture.
Chaffles can be used as a low-carb bread substitute for sandwiches or burgers.
Store leftover chaffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a toaster or oven for best results.
